Man in the Mirror

I heard a preacher say, “I’m telling you the truth, and why do I say that? Because, I’ve been known to tell a lie!” Go ahead and say it. I know you want to, “Amen!”. There are lies and then, there’s the “exaggerated truth” which means that it’s not really a lie, just the truth expanded upon. Right?

May I ask you, have you ever lied? Okay, I know that was a little straight forward, so let me ask you, how’s your integrity doing lately?

When I can’t stand being trapped inside my house any longer, I take a sanity therapy outing to the Bass Pro store, or as more affectionately called by my brother, “Wally World!”. After a couple of hours checking out the new gadgets that’ll help me become a better hunter and fisherman, I’m ready to reenter the world of the living.

Each time I pass through their doors I’m confronted with these words inscribed overhead, “Welcome Fishermen, Hunters, and Other Liars.” I can’t help but smile as I enter the doors knowing the stories I’ve heard from outdoorsmen over the years.

Life was never meant to get you down!

Jesus said that he came not only to give life, but to give it more abundantly. If life then is getting you down, let us offer you a couple of suggestions.

Never let the mistakes of your yesterdays rule your tomorrows.

  • Did you know that what you think about your yesterday has as much to do with your future as what you think about your future? Many people can’t get past today, because of yesterday. The Apostle Paul said, “Forgetting those things which are behind me, I press toward the mark . . .” Learn from God what you need to let go of, and begin moving forward!

Look forward to tomorrow!

  • Everyone has moments of dread, but positive people have learned how not to live in their moments of dread! Focus on something of value. The Apostle Paul said in Philippians, “whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--think on these things.” Someone once said, “I can’t stop a bird from flying over my head, but I can stop him from making a nest in my hair!” Don’t entertain negative thoughts; let them pass through without making a home in your thinking.

Life is too short and precious to spend it in frustration and anxiety. Jesus is more than a name, or church institution, and He is more than willing to help you find answers to life’s problems.

Why not discover for yourself just how much He cares about you?
